Winner of the Dog Friendly Awards for Cottages & Self Catering

On Wednesday 7th December we headed down to London - the reason? East Ruston Cottages were finalists in the Dog Friendly awards in the category of Cottages & Self Catering for the 4th time!

The day started in a chaotic whirl, the dogs had to be walked early, dog sitter instructed, Pogo needed to be fed and his stable prepped and about 3 days worth of poo picking needed to be done. Such a glamourous start to an awards day! We were looking forward to collapsing on the train!

It was amazing to be in the finals for the 4th year running, and just very very happy to have got that far. The awards were being held at the Kennel Club in London which was quite swish, and whether we won or not, it was going to be fantastic to chat with other dog businesses, meet some of their dogs and see the legendary doggy works of art here.

Katie Thistleton of CBBC and Radio 1 fame was the main presenter and is a truly passionate dog lover so it was a real joy for her!  We waited eagerly for out category to come up - and I don't think it will be any surprise (the clue is in the title), but we were absolutely over the moon to win again!

We were thrilled to see that the Doggie Diner in Cromer won their category too - Best Dog Friendly UK Cafe!  That's a great achievement and we love that so many of our repeat guests choose our thank you vouchers to go and visit there with their dogs.  And one of our up and coming dog welcoming pubs, The Lacon Arms in Hemsby, got into the final 3 for the Dog Friendly pub category! Go Norfolk!!

One of the main reasons that we managed to get this in the awards is down to our amazing cottage owners who offer such wonderfully, genuinely dog welcoming places to stay and our fabulous guests who are brilliant ambassadors for our independent and passionate little company.  So a big thank you from us!  The reason we won is because so many of our guests voted for us!  I think that shows that we are getting something right!
