Hello my name is Helen & my sidekick is Wellington the original Salty the sea dog.
I have always been drawn to the sound of the sea and The Salty Sea Dog is only 80 human steps away from the beach. I think I fell in love with Norfolk as a small child, we always spent our annual holidays at different camp sites. Norfolk is definitely my happy place, the big blue skies and as soon as you hear the sound of the sea I instantly relax.
I found East Ruston Cottages just before lockdown & was gutted when our first holiday had to be cancelled. I think I actually cried on the phone to Sue. But since then we have stayed in 16 different ERC properties.  I have an ERC addition, but there is no cure apart from booking more holidays.  Being a huge dog lover I love the fact there are no stupid rules about dogs & are truly dog friendly.

Will this property suit my dogs?

If your dog is sociable and loves the sea, then yes!  If your dog wants to run and paddle to their heart’s content this is a pawfect spot, just moments from the beach.  The enclosed decking area is a great place for them to watch the world go by (though to be fair there isn’t much of that going on!)  The beach goes in either direction for miles so there is plenty of walking and there are some inland routes too.

If your dog is reactive then this might not be the best choice for them as there may be people, dogs, traffic going past.  Not often and very slowly but obviously busier in the summer months – as will be the beach.  Outside of the main parts of the season this is a very quiet lodge park so may be easier for them then.

Please note:

  • We ask that you bring your own bedding if your dogs would like to join you on the beds.
  • This is a NO smoking property.
  • Bookings are Friday – Friday with short breaks available.
  • Arrival is from 3pm, check out by 10am.
  • All major supermarkets deliver here. Please arrange your delivery for after your arrival.
  • Crates: We would prefer that your dogs are not left alone in the property unless you are 100% confident that they will not get stressed.  If they are crate trained and you would like to use a crate, please do ask us – we can provide all sizes for free loan.  We know how bulky they are to pack!
  • Dog sitting.  If you would like to go out for a few hours and leave the dogs but are not confident they will settle, please see our website page for dog sitter recommendations.  Shannons Pet Care would be the one we highly recommend.

Accessibility

The property does not cater specifically for mobility, audibly or visually impaired guests but please do contact us if you would like to know more – hello@eastrustoncottages.co.uk.
