Hi we are Rick,Ally and the mad springers Sky and Lottie .
I (Rick) had a dream of running a holiday cottage for about the last 10 years and so on the day of lockdown 2020 (a date never forgotten) we and our beloved springer Roxy moved to Norfolk after buying The Malthouse Farm. We had heard about Sue at ERC and begged her to sign us up before we even started the conversion of the old barn.  Malthouse Farm Barn was opened in June 2024 for the comfort and joy of our doggie guests and people alike. Lottie and Sky (pictured) love to swim in the sea… or a muddy puddle to be fair.

About the property

All about the inside:

Entrance Hall
A spacious area with plenty of  hanging space for coats and dog leads. There is a spacious WC just off here.

Open plan Lounge/Kitchen/Diner
A beautiful vaulted room with views in each direction. The gorgeous green fitted kitchen includes integrated dishwasher, undercounter fridge, Smeg range-style oven with induction hob and Belfast sink. There is also a microwave, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. There is a dining table with seating for six. Three large comfortable sofas surround the wood burner and smart TV. The drawers contain lots of games and books to keep everyone entertained. There are double doors leading out to the enclosed garden. A large storage cupboard contains the hoover, iron and ironing board and clothes airer.

Boot Room
Off the kitchen there is a handy spacious boot room with sink, undercounter freezer and washing machine. There is another door here leading to the enclosed back garden.

Ensuite super king bedroom (downstairs)
A large bright bedroom with patio doors leading to the enclosed garden. Super king size bed with bedside tables, drawers and hanging space. The ensuite has a luxurious free standing roll top bath, basin and WC.

Before reaching the bedroom, enjoy the view of the downstairs living area through the large glass window. This bedroom has a king size bed with bedside tables and chest of drawers. There is a Velux window for extra light. The ensuite has a walk-in shower, WC and basin.

All about the outside:

When you arrive
Malthouse Farm Barn is approached through the 5 bar gate. The driveway offers parking for 3-4 vehicles.

Back garden
The back garden can be accessed through a 6ft solid side gate to the right hand side of the property, should you not want to enter through the house. The garden is surrounded by 6ft walls making it the perfect enclosed and private space. There is a large lawned area and a patio which sweeps the length of the barn with access to the utility room, lounge and both the downstairs bedrooms.

There is a further patio to the rear of the garden with sofa seating and coffee table. There is a charcoal Weber BBQ with a starter pack of coal supplied through the summer months. The brick outhouse offers storage for all our doggy items including a large crate, and a further freezer for raw feeders.

Will this property suit my dogs?

Absolutely!  From the hard floors inside (but not slippery) to the secure garden, this is just heaven for dogs.  Lots of space and comfort for them. Very little can be heard or seen from the outside area.  The owners – Ally and Rick – live next door with their beautiful spaniels should you need any assistance during your stay.

“Fabulous! I had been watching the renovation since first mentioned on the ERC social media pages. It’s everything and more than I had imagined. Meg loved her treats and the runs on the beach, fields and woods. She even enjoyed meeting Lottie and Skye. Hope to visit again. Thank you for making our stay a lovely and peaceful one.” – Amanda, Phil and Meg, September 2024.

“I’ve stayed in lots of holiday cottages, but Malthouse Farm Barn is truly ‘THE BEST!” All of our six dogs had a wonderful time, with visits to the beach and countryside walks. We had various trips to beaches and towns – all enjoyed by all.” – Stewart, Can, Sam, Rod and all the dogs, September 2024.

“We have had a lovely stay at Malthouse Farm Barn! It has been our rescue dog Eric’s first holiday and our first holiday as dog owners! Eric has really enjoyed chasing his ball on the beaches at Ostend and Happisburgh. He has also loved playing in the garden. We had a lovely walk in Bacton Woods. The barn has been very comfortable with everything that we needed. Thank you for the welcome basket of goodies and for creating such a lovely holiday home.” – Louise, Daniel, Olivia and Eric, June 2024.

“We have enjoyed a wonderful holiday with perfect sunshine. The barn is stunning with everything you could need. Nice days spent at the local beaches, Bacton Woods, Thurne for a walk along the broads. Ate at The Lighthouse – good pub grub. Bacton fish and chips were fab! We’ll definitely be back!” – Hollely and Thompsons, July 2024
