Hello from Mark and Clare! A very warm welcome to Broads Cottage – we hope you will have a wonderfully relaxing stay here.

We bought 2 Thurnside in March 2021 as a renovation project. The property had sat empty for over 10 years and was in need of a huge injection of love and care (and hard work). We have done much of the work ourselves, with the help of some great tradespeople along the way. The house was uninhabitable when we bought it and it has taken us many months of work to get it to the house you see today.

Kitchen/Diner
The well appointed modern kitchen is spacious and bright. There is a dishwasher, washer-drier, electric oven, ceramic four ring hob, microwave and under counter fridge with ice box. To the right is a dining area to comfortably seat six.

Lounge
Carry on through to the lounge where there is a four and three seater sofa. There is hardwood flooring and large rug. The shelving has a host of games to play and there are throws provided for the sofas.

Downstairs Ensuite Bedroom
Back through the kitchen to reach the downstairs bedroom with kingsize bed. There are bedside tables with lamps and a view over the garden. The large ensuite wet room has a walk in shower and freestanding bath, WC and basin.

Bedroom Two
The second bedroom has a standard double bed, bedside tables and wardrobe.

Bedroom Three 
Bedroom three has two 3′ single beds, tall boy for storage and a hanging area.

Upstairs Shower Room
The upstairs shower room has a walk in shower, WC and basin.

 

All about the outside:

The driveway has parking for up to three cars beyond the 5-bar gate making it a secure exit for your dogs. The parking area is within the garden which is fully fenced (scroll down further for fence height details) . There is an outside dining table and chairs for al fresco dining.

Will this property suit my dogs?

If your dog loves walking for miles by the water and inland, followed by snoozing at a local dog friendly pub (after accepting the offer of biscuits from the staff of course!) then this will be for them.   If they like boating or joining you on the paddle board or in the kayak, this will also be very much for them!  If they like sniffing and bumbling round a fenced in garden, this will also be ideal

If they are jumpers, then probably not the best choice as the fence height at the lowest is approx 3ft but the whole garden area is fenced and hedged (in some areas well over 6ft) with small gauge mesh backing up the hedged areas.   So if they are not interested in jumping out, this garden would work well for them.   The cottage is on the road into the village so will have traffic and possibly other dogs walking by so not always so good for reactive dogs.  That said, the majority of the “traffic” is often from the water and that can’t be seen from the cottage.

Please note:

  • We ask that you bring your own bedding if your dogs would like to join you on the beds.
  • Broads Cottage is a NO smoking property.
  • Arrival is from 4pm, departure 10am.
  • Electric car, bike or scooter charging is NOT available.
  • All major supermarkets deliver here. Please arrange your delivery for after your arrival.
  • Crates: We would prefer that your dogs are not left alone in the property unless you are 100% confident that they will not get stressed.  If they are crate trained and you would like to use a crate, please do ask us – we can provide all sizes for free loan.  We know how bulky they are to pack!
  • Dog sitting.  If you would like to go out for a few hours and leave the dogs but are not confident they will settle, please see our website page for dog sitter recommendations.  Shannons Pet Care would be the one we highly recommend.

Accessibility

Broads Cottage is entered from a gravel parking area itself is gravel but just a few steps will get you to get to the front door with a slight step over the threshold.

When inside, there is a downstairs bedrooms with walk in shower ensuite.  The living, dining and kitchen areas are also downstairs. There is hardwood flooring throughout.

Following the A1064 from Acle, turn left onto Thurne Road towards Thurne. Follow this road all the way to the village. Broad Cottage is the first rendered house on the left hand side.
